Police to intensify raids into those who stockpile fuel

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police will intensify raids into those who are stockpiling fuel from tomorrow (22) onwards, says the Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa. 

Citing that according to law, stockpiling fuel and reselling it is prohibited, the Police Spokesperson mentioned that those who commit such crimes will be brought to justice. 

The raids are being conducted in cooperation with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation personnel, he mentioned. 

Therefore, the Police Spokesperson instructed the public to not to accumulate fuel into cans and barrels, especially during these times amidst a fuel shortage and added that filling stations have already been instructed to not to issue fuel for barrels and cans.
