COLOMBO (News 1st): People of Kolonnawa held a protest by blocking the Dematagoda - Wellampitiya road demanding gas today (19).

The residents said that they do not have food to eat and their children have not gone to school in a long while.

"We can't eat bread everyday. There's no gas or kerosene to cook. There is no petrol for our vehicles," the protestors said.

People who were in queue for many hours to buy gas at a Litro Gas store in Oroppuwatte in Galle had to turn back empty handed, while there were long queues at a Litro gas dealership store at the Badulla town as well.

The people, who said that they do not have rice, dhal, milk powder or gas, demanded whether their only option is to starve to death.

"We are not ready to be deceived by these blatant lies made by the Government everyday. And we can't bear these woes anymore. I joined this to buy a gas cylinder because I can't watch my children crying without food," a person added.
