47-year-old male injured during assault near Beire Lake on 9th May, dies.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said that a person who was assaulted during the unrest that broke out on the 9th of May 2022, had succumbed on the 16th of May 2022.

In a statement Sri Lanka Police said a person who was assaulted between Perahera Mawatha and Beire Lake was admitted to the Ragama Hospital on the 9th of May, and later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was a 47-year-old male from Galahitiyawa, Kuliyapitiya.

A magisterial inquiry was carried out on the 18th of May, and the Judicial Medical Report revealed that the death was caused by injuries to the head and chest.

The Colpetty Police is conducting investigations to identify and arrest the suspects.
