COLOMBO (News 1st); The Secretary to the Ministry of Health Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe has revealed at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office that there is a severe shortage of medicines for heart patients, including equipment for surgeries.

He further revealed that the suppliers of medicines, surgical equipment, and food for these patients have not been paid for 4 months.

Although the Ministry of Health has opened letters of credit for the importation of medicines, it has been revealed that nothing was imported due to the shortage of dollars.
