COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the 21st Amendment to the constitution will be discussed on Monday (16) and will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval, thereafter.
The first Cabinet meeting was held on Sunday (15) under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Special attention has been paid to fuel imports at the meeting held yesterday (15).
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe is scheduled to make a special statement today (16), the Prime Minister's Office said.
A senior spokesman said the aim was to educate the public on the current political and economic situation in the country.
Also on Sunday (15), Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed four key areas on Twitter;
1. Fuel: Given the dollar scarcity at banks, we are exploring other options of securing the necessary funds to pay for the coming week's fuel requirements.
2. LP Gas: The government has secured payments for an LP Gas consignment which will begin to unload and distribute as early as possible.
3. Medicine, Food and Fertilizer: At the conclusion of our meeting today, The World Bank and ADB have pledged support to assist in procuring essentials items.
4. 21st Amendment: This will be taken up for discussion with the Attorney General's Department tomorrow and then be presented to Cabinet for approval.
