COLOMBO (News 1st); Senior DIG in-charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Thennakoon was summoned to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on Friday (13).

Chairperson of the HRCSL Retired Supreme Court Judge Rohini Marasinghe said the Senior DIG was summoned based on the information extracted from the Inspector General of Police, and the Army Commander when they appeared at the HRCSL recently.

The Human Rights Commission said that Sudesh Nandimal from the Committee to Protect the Rights of Prisoners and Attorney-at-Law Senaka Perera have been issued summons to appear at the HRCSL on Tuesday (16).

This is based on the information extracted from Prisons Commissioner General Thushara Upuldeniya, and another Commissioner, who appeared at the HRCSL on Thursday (12).

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has already launched an investigation into allegations that personnel held at the Watareka Open Prison Camp were transported to the meeting at Temple Trees on the 9th of May, and were used to attack peaceful protestors at MynaGoGama and GotaGoGama protest sites.
