Peaceful expression of dissent is not an emergency: UN Resident Coordinator

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Resident Coordinator for the United Nations in Sri Lanka, Hanaa Singer-Hamdy states that the limitations to the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms are only acceptable when exceptional, proportional and justified.

Taking to Twitter, she stated that peaceful expression of dissent is not an emergency, while root causes for dissent must be tackled first.
