Cabinet Sub-Committee to study report on Draft Constitution;

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has decided to appoint a Sub-Committee to study the contents of the preliminary report on drafting a new constitution for the country.

The committee will comprise:

Minister (Professor) G. L. Peiris

Minister DInesh Gunawardena

Minister Douglas Devananda

Minister (Dr) Romesh Pathirana

Minister Ali Sabry PC

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided on 09.09.2020 to appoint a committee consisting of legal experts under the chairmanship of President's Counsel Romesh de Silva to draft a new constitution. The preliminary report of the committee has been submitted to the President on 25.04.2022.
