COLOMBO (News 1st); An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued increasing the prices of 60 types of medicines by 40%.

Signed by the Minister of Health Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the gazette underlines that a manufacturer or importer selling a medicine will be able to increase the revised retail price proportionately by 40%.

Under this, the maximum retail price of a 500 mg tablet of paracetamol is Rs. 4.16.

The maximum retail price of a 375 mg tablet of amoxicillin will be Rs.83.71.
