Essential medical supplies from India reaches Peradeniya Hospital

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy handed over essential medical supplies to the Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya. 

Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya thanked the Government of India, External Affairs Minister of India, Dr S. Jaishankar and the people of India for the friendly gesture.

Previously, India also handed over a consignment of medicines and medical supplies by High Commissioner to Minister of Health, Channa Jayasumana in Colombo yesterday (29). INS Gharial was deployed for ensuring expeditious delivery of the consignment to Sri Lanka.

During her stay in the country, the crew members of INS ‘Gharial’ are expected to take part in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, with a view to develop camaraderie between two navies. The ship is scheduled to depart the island on 01st May 2022.

The medicines and medical equipment were handed over to Sri Lanka as a part of the Indian Line of Credit.
