Train services affected by TU strike

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Transport Board said that its buses will operate as usual, as SLTB workers have not communicated that they would be a part of the nationwide strike action.

Deputy General Manager of SLTB Panduka Swarnahansa told News 1st that buses will operate as per the schedule.

The Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) and the Inter-Provincial Private Bus Owners' Association (IPPBOA) said that they have not reached a decision about engaging in the strikes today.

The Trade Unions said that private bus owners can operate as per their discretion.

Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara said due to railways workers reporting sick without prior notice, train services will be disrupted.

Passengers are requested to find alternative modes of commute, he added.
