COLOMBO (News 1st);  The struggles of the people who are protesting is fair, says former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, appearing before the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry to probe cases of political victmization during the time of the former Good Governance administration.

The former Parliamentarian arrived at the PCoI premises accompanied by prison officials, and congratulated those who are continuing their struggle in the face of fuel and gas cylinder shortages.

Speaking on the Prime Minister's stance with regard to not stepping down, Ramanayake commented that the Prime Minister does not have any shame enough to leave.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing the Commission's witnesses commented on the Commission's expiration date, with Attorney at Law Harshana Nanayakkara stating that as far as he knows, the Commission is coming to an end and the President must take steps to extend it through a gazette notification.

"But as far as I know no such gazette notification has been issued yet. Therefore, it does not appear that this commission will be operational after today. Today I informed my clients to come back if the Commission continues. Therefore, whether this commission goes beyond this or not will be decided according to the gazette issued by the President," he stated.
