President to chair meeting with SLPP MPs; Independents to meet Sirisena

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is expected to meet with the Parliamentarians representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna at the President's House, where the present political situation is expected to be discussed.

In addition, the All-Party Conference that is to be convened by the President will also be discussed at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament will be held today (28) under the auspices of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, where the upcoming parliamentary week will be discussed.

A special meeting of the Government's Independent group of Parliamentarians is scheduled to be held at 1.30 PM today (28) under the auspices of former President Maithripala Sirisena.

This meeting will be held to reach a final decision on the invitation extended by the President on the formation of an all-party government.

Members of parliament representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, the Lanka Sama Samaja Party, the Ceylon Workers Congress, and independent MPs from the SLPP will be present at the meeting.
