COLOMBO (News 1st); Teachers and Principals across Sri Lanka went on strike on Monday (25) citing that an immediate solution should be provided to the transportation difficulties experienced by the general public at large.

In addition, they demanded that solutions need to be provided by the government to the issues faced by the public, and they also called for an immediate change in the administration.

The main protest by Teachers and Principals took place in Kalutara where they marched to the Kalutara Town from Kalutara North & Katukurunda.

Similar large protests took place in Kandy, Galle, and Ampara as well.

Academic activities were disrupted due to a trade union action by about 30 unions representing teachers, principals, and teacher advisors.

Activities at many schools in Colombo were affected after teachers and principals called in sick, and this was the situation across many schools.
