PM to move motion to enact 19th Amendment

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will table the proposal to enact the 19th Amendment to the Constitution with amendments, to the Cabinet on Monday (25).

It will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval as a proposal with necessary and timely amendments.

A senior Government spokesman said the first meeting of the new cabinet would be held today at 5 PM under the chairmanship of the President.

The Samagi Jana Balavegaya, the United National Party, and the Independent MPs have already submitted their proposals for the 21st Amendment to the Constitution to the Speaker.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated that the proposals have been submitted to the Prime Minister for submission to the Cabinet.
