IUSF protest march: several roads barred

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Inter University Students Federation is scheduled to hold a protest in Colombo this afternoon.

The Inter University Students Federation stated that the protest march will commence from Colombo Fort.

Meanwhile, the police reported the matter to court yesterday and attempted to obtain a court order regarding the protest march, which was rejected by the Colombo Magistrate.

Accordingly, protestors have been barred from entering Chaitya Road and Janadhipathi Mawatha from NSA Junction, York Street from Ceramic Junction, from G.O.H. Junction to Bank road, Ceramic Junction to NSA. Lotus Avenue from Ceramic Junction, Lower Chatham Street, from GMH Junction to main road from the junction and Lady Bastian Mawatha.

Welded barriers were seen erected at several places as well.
