Fuel shortage affects the fisheries industry

COLOMBO (News 1st); The All Ceylon Fisheries Union said that about 80% of multi-day fishing vessels have been forced to remain anchored at fishing ports due to the shortage of fuel.

The National Organizer of the All Ceylon Fisheries Union, Ratna Gamage said that the small-scale fishing industry has also been affected due to the shortage of Kerosene.

However, the Ministry of Fisheries said that there is sufficient fuel for the fisheries industry.

Secretary to the Ministry, Indu Ratnayake said that all fisheries harbors have been instructed to provide an uninterrupted supply of fuel for each multi-day vessel.
