Fuel shortage sparks protests at filling stations

COLOMBO (News 1st); Several fuel queues were across multiple locations in the country on Sunday (17) night, while there was NO fuel in many filling stations.

People who visited the filling station in Kantale blocked the Colombo - Trincomalee main road since the employees in the filling station decided NOT to distribute fuel.

Therefore, with the intervention of the Police, steps were taken to issue fuel at Rs.150/- per motorcycle.

A filling station in Dehiattakandiya received fuel after 5 days, therefore long queues to purchase fuel.

People who visited the Deiyandara filling station staged a protest since NO fuel was available in the relevant filling station.

However, with the intervention of the Police, steps were taken to distribute fuel to the people.
