COLOMBO (News 1st); The Petroleum Corporation states that a program has been initiated to directly supply fuel required for the export industry.
Its Chairman, Sumith Wijesinghe stated that the move was taken at the request of the Export Development Board and the Coconut Development Board.
The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation also stated that the companies concerned have informed that the value of the fuel issued to them will be paid in dollars.
He said steps have already been taken to supply fuel to 350 companies targeting exports.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that two ships carrying 40,000 metric tons of diesel and 37,500 metric tons of petrol are scheduled to arrive in the country today (14).
Accordingly, CPC Chairman Wijesinghe stated that the distribution of the relevant fuels will commence soon.
However, there were long queues in many parts of the island yesterday (13) for get fuel, gas and kerosene.
