8-year old child dead after drowning in Neluwa area

COLOMBO (News 1st); An 8 year-old child has drowned in the Ambalegedara area in Neluwa.

The Police stated that the child had been swept away by waves while attempting to cross the Ingle stream which was overflowing across the Ambalegedara road.

Police added that the child had met with the accident while crossing the road with his mother and three brothers.

Meanwhile, a three wheeler driver was also killed when he was swept away by a stream near the Indikatuhandiya narrow bridge in Ingiriya.

Police stated that a three wheeler driver who had come for a dropoff had met with the accident around 1:00 am this morning (10).

He had reportedly dropped off two people and met with the accident when he was travelling back.

The body of the deceased, identified as a 47 year old resident of Rambukkanagama who was caught in the flood, was found this morning.
