COLOMBO (News 1st); The protest march of the Kelaniya University students reached the Parliamentary roundabout a short while ago, and the students were tear gassed by the Police and were also hit with water cannons by the Police.

The students are engaging in the protest demanding a solution to the country's economic crisis and against the current regime.

Meanwhile another protest organized by a group of youth was held in Kurunegala today (08).

Our correspondent noted that the youth had traveled to the Wilboda area where the Chief Government Whip, Minister Johnston Fernando's private office is located.

Police had set up roadblocks and tightened security at the Puwakgas junction, and subsequently, the youth returned to the Kurunegala town and continued their protest.
