COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has sought assistance from several international organizations to overcome the medicine shortage.
The State Ministry of Pharmaceuticals Supply and Regulation, Saman Ratnayake stated that there is a shortage of 40 types of medicines and several essentials.
Hospitals in the country are supplied with 1,325 types of medicines and 400 of them are essential medicines, and 10 of them are life-saving medicine.
There is currently a shortage of 40 types of medicines, including some essential medicines that prevent blood clots in the heart.
The Ministry said stocks of many medicines were also in short supply.
