12 people arrested for protesting opposite Carlton House, released on bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); 12 people who were arrested for protesting opposite Carlton House in Tangalle were released on bail on Tuesday (5).

The group was arrested for unlawful assembly, causing damage to a bus (charged under the Public Property Act), and causing injuries to Police officers.

News 1st correspondents said the group was produced to the Tangalle Acting Magistrate at 1 AM on Tuesday (5).

18 lawyers were present to appear on behalf of the 12 people who were arrested.
