COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology announced that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most parts of the island except Northern Province during the evening or night.

Heavy showers of about 100mm can be expected at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces, and in Galle, and Matara districts.

Further, light showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Eastern province during the morning, the Department of Meteorology noted.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
