COLOMBO (News 1st); The Mahanayake Theros of three Nikayas have issued a joint statement regarding the current crisis situation in the country.

The statement issued by the Mahanayake Theras points out that we Sri Lankans belong to a nation that has been united in resolving various crises and disasters in the country throughout the history.

The Mahanayake Theras also mentioned the service rendered by Sri Lankans by donating even their salaries to save the country from the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a good example.

The Joint Statement underlines that the people of this country must realize their determination not to fall prey to conspiratorial mechanisms at this crucial juncture, and must take action to secure the sovereignty and security of the country.

The joint statement also adds the Mahanayake Thera hope that people and public representatives alike would  set aside their personal political agendas and dedicate all their privileges to the welfare of the people and work together to resolve this crisis through the formulation of a united policy.
