6000MT of Diesel for power generation: CEB

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Energy has agreed to supply 6000 metric tonnes of Diesel for power generation on Thursday (Mar. 31), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). Only the Kelanithissa Combined Cycle Power Station is currently active amidst the shortage of Diesel, according to the CEB. All other Thermal Power Plants that run on Diesel and Furnace Oil are currently inactive, Additional General Manager Andrew Nawamani, the CEP Spokesperson told News 1st. However, one generator of the Canyon Reservoir was reactivated, the CEB noted. According to Andrew Nawamani, 810 MW of power is generated from the Norochcholai Power Plant. People who are involved in various industries in the country have been severely affected due to the power cuts.
