COLOMBO (News 1st); The country must be run by a caretaker Government, states Samagi Jana Balawegaya member Patali Champika Ranawaka.
Speaking on the current crisis in the country, the Opposition MP stated that it had become clear that the Government cannot carry out its tasks properly, which is noticeable in the Diesel prices being increased three fold, and while plans are underway to increase electricity tariffs by five fold.
While the management of the Ceylon Electricity Board has become useless, the power system of the country might even collapse by mid April, he said.
MP Ranwaka also emphasized that institutions such as the Ceylon Electricity Board, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Finance Ministry must be entrusted with a group of genuine and skilled people, while the country must be run by a caretaker government.
