Litro & Laugfs assure to end shortage soon

COLOMBO (News 1st); Gas distribution was carried out at the Litro Gas Terminal at Keralawalapitiya until Thursday (24) midnight.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Litro, Theshara Jayasinghe said that another vessel carrying 3,600 MT of gas will arrive in Sri Lanka on Friday (25), and this stock will be released to the market as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Laugfs said that there is a stock of 2,000 tons of gas in the Hambantota port at present.

The Chairman of Laugfs, W.K.H. Mr. Wegapitiya said that previously 50,000 gas cylinders were released to the market per day but now only 4,000 to 5,000 gas cylinders are released per day.

Laughs said Hospitals, Factories, and Restaurants will be given priority in the distribution process.

He pointed out that between 45,000 and 50,000 gas cylinders could be re-released to the market daily within two weeks of making the required payments for letters of credit.
