Fuel crisis: Batti wedding goes back in time

COLOMBO (News 1st); Residents of Thikkodai, Batticaloa have adapted to the shortage of diesel and petrol in their own manner. 

A wedding was recently held in the village with the bridal party being taken in a bullock cart instead of a usual motor car. 

A resident, speaking to News 1st stated that his brother's wedding was held in this unique manner due to the recent price hikes reported with regard to petrol and diesel. 

The community gets the chance to protect their traditions and rituals in this manner, while being cost effective, he added.
