COLOMBO (News 1st); These conditions will not persist forever, assures the Co-Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister (Dr) Ramesh Pathirana. 

Speaking further, MP (Dr) Ramesh Pathirana pointed out that once people demand more and the supplies are lower, that particular equation works in a very unfavorable manner for the consumer. 

Therefore, the controlling measures will not become viable when the supply chain is not properly maintained, he stated. 

When inquired as to any decision has been taken to smoothen the issue of the rupee depreciating by 50% within the last two days, the Minister said that the Government has to take unpopular decisions in relation to the monetary conditions of the country, while curtailing imports.
