COLOMBO (News 1st); The closure of Sapugaskanda will result in more power cuts and more fuel queues, says the Spokesperson of the United Trade Union Force, Ananda Palitha
Alleging that the authorities are closing the refinery down due to their incompetency, he said that this will affect the supply of fuel for ships and aircraft which can generate dollars for the country.
Palitha further stated that crude oil can be imported at less than 20 US dollars a barrel and refined into kerosene instead of keeping the refinery closed.
Emphasizing that he Government should not lie, Palitha said that it is important that the President at least appoint a committee now and take the relevant steps for the distribution, production and supply of fuel in the near future.
