One petrol & one diesel bowser per filling station: Lokuge

COLOMBO (News 1st); Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge has ordered for the distribution of one petrol and one diesel bowser to each petrol station in Colombo and suburbs.

The Minister said that these steps are being taken to end the long queues at petrol stations.

When inquired whether the fuel prices in Sri Lanka will change further in the future according to the world market fuel prices, Minister Lokuge stated that a discussion on the matter has not been initiated as of yet. 

He further stated that the price of fuel purchased is determined at the time of the purchase according to the price of fuel in Singapore. 

Stating that the price of fuel is subject to changes usually, the Minister cited an instance when a ship with a fuel consignment first estimated at US Dollar 35 million was later amended as US Dollar 52 million.
