COLOMBO (News 1st); Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that a President moves closer to the people in light of the prevailing crisis, during a press briefing in Colombo today (17).
Minister Amaraweera, pointing out that the President started his speech by referring to those who are suffering from the fuel and the gas crises, said that the President assured that he will approach the IMF with regard to this issue and requested for everyone’s support to carry out this initiative.
He further stated that he personally feels that the President must engage in a conversation with the people at least once a month. Mentioning that he used to visit villages to engage in conversation with the people, Minister Amaraweera stated that it would be a positive move if he can do that in the future as well, as it is necessary to govern well.
