COLOMBO (News 1st); People are seen in queues in anticipation of obtaining gas and Kerosene in several places in the country, including urban areas like Kadawatha.
Although a lorry carrying gas visited the areas on Monday (14) morning, the supply was not sufficient to meet the demand.
A similar situtiation was experienced in Maligawatte, Colombo as well.
With the shortage of gas taking its toll in the local market, the demand for Kerosene has increased, mainly because people have now moved away from using gas cookers and are opting to use fire wood and kerosene as alternatives.
This high demand has led to increasing number of queues across Sri Lanka for Kerosene as well.
