COLOMBO (News 1st); The High Commission of India took steps to launch a program to distribute essential goods to over thousand families in the Northern Province in Jaffna.
The High Commission stated that the friendly and humanitarian gesture was extended along with the Minister of Fisheries, Douglas Devananda.
Similar programs are also due to be conducted in other districts in the coming days, the High Commission stated.
Moreover, the High Commissioner also thanked the leadership of the Government of Sri Lanka and Fisheries Minister for support to joint celebration of St. Anthony’s Festival at Kachchatheevu this year by Indian and Sri Lankan Fishermen.
