COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has hinted at a possible CPC fuel price increase after Lanka IOC decided to hike prices on Thursday (10).
He said first the world was affected by the Pandemic, and now the conflict in Ukraine, however, the government will do its best to provide relief to the people.
“We are already providing relief such as the Rs. 5000/- allowance, and will provide more as much as possible,” he told reporters.
The Finance Minister said the government pegged the currency, however, the situation got worse to the level where the currency was made to float.
He said despite it being difficult to service foreign debt, the government will do its best to service the debt.
