COLOMBO (News 1st); The newly appointed Minister of Power Pavithra Wanniarachchi has instructed to establish an operations center to provide uninterrupted power supply to essential locations.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Power mentions that the Minister has emphasized that this is a mandatory action which should take place and an operations center should be expeditiously set up under the Ministry of Power for this purpose.

Although it is difficult to provide uninterrupted power supply due to the prevailing dry weather conditions, the Minister pointed out that steps should be taken immediately to provide uninterrupted supply of electricity 24 hours a day to essential areas such as hospitals, high security areas and investment promotion zones.

This operation room will be maintained by an expert team consisting of representatives of relevant institutions.

The Minister of Power stated this at a discussion held today (08) with the participation of officials from several institutions such as the Ministry of Power, Ceylon Electricity Board, Ministry of Irrigation, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense.
