Power cut leads to tense situation at Foreign Ministry's Consular Affairs Division

COLOMBO (News 1st); A tense situation was reported at the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs located at the Ceylinco House premises in Colombo.

According to reports, a power cut had disrupted the functions of the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (7) morning.

A large number of people who visited the premises for various services have been inconvenienced due to the power cut.

Commander Chameera Ranaweera, the coordinating officer to the Foreign Secretary speaking to News 1st that the tense situation was NOT caused by the Foreign Ministry, adding that Ceylinco House is owned by several parties, following a dispute between two parties one party had suspended the supply of power to the premises.

Sri Lanka Police was called into the premises to control the situation and bring about a solution, he added.

Commander Chameera Ranaweera said that he expects the power supply to be restored within an hour, following discussions with those concerned.
