COLOMBO (News 1st); The statistics, facts and information which the United nations has obtained to make decisions and observations on its behalf are incorrect and may be biased, says the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Prof. G.L. Peiris.

During a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, the Minister has requested the United Nations to revisit the information and statistics obtained from Sri Lanka as it does not reflect the real situation of the country.

Moreover, the Foreign Minister extended an invite to Commissioner Bachelet to visit Sri Lanka and to see the development of the nation with her own eyes.

Emphasizing that it is fruitless to direct allegations regarding human rights violations 13 years after the war, the Foreign Minister mentioned that he expects the United Nations diplomats to take decisions regarding Sri Lanka after discussing with the authorities of the country about its situation.

The Minister of Justice, Ali Sabry and the Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colambage were also present during the meeting.
