Accidental discharge of concealed T-56 rifle; NO injuries

COLOMBO (News 1st); A concealed T-56 assault rifle had accidentally discharged in Gonapinuwala following a motor accident.

Police stated that a motorcycle and a bicycle had collided in Gonapinuwala, and at the moment, the motorcyclist has attempted to flee, when another person had tried to snatch the key of the motorcycle. 

However, a luggage belonging to the pillion rider had fallen to the ground, and at that moment the concealed weapon had accidentally discharged.

Police stated that no one was injured in the incident, however, the two men who were travelling in the motorcycle subsequently fled the scene.

The suspects have been identified and investigations are underway to arrest them, Police added
