Uninterrupted fuel supply a challenge: Energy Ministry

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Energy says that uninterrupted fuel supply will be a challenge in the future, as a Senior Ministry official said that the situation would be exacerbated by the LIOC fuel price hike.

However, the official confirmed that CEYPETCO has not yet taken any decision to increase fuel prices.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the demand for fuel from CEYPETCO filling stations has increased in comparison to the LIOC filling stations.

The Ministry of Energy also urged the public to refrain from collecting unnecessary stocks of fuel in view of the prevailing situation.

Ministry officials further stated that it is taking action to manage the situation as much as possible.

Meanwhile, long queues have formed at some petrol stations island wide while some petrol stations have been closed down due to the lack of fuel.
