COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Transport Commission (NTC) has decided to introduce a joint timetable for all Passenger Transport Buses operating along Galle Road on the Colombo – Katharagama route.

The Director-General of the NTC, Commander (Rtd) Nilan Miranda said that the system would move away from the traditional joint schedule, and a new mechanism will be introduced.

Further, he stated that at the present SLTB and Private Buses are operating on the Colombo-Badulla, Panadura-Kandy, and Colombo-Vavuniya routes on joint schedules, and there is a problem in implementing the joint schedule as there is NO agreement between both parties.

In the meantime, the Sri Lanka Railways has decided to operate a special Tourist train from Kandy to Ella.

The General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways, Dammika Jayasundara said that the train will be operational from next month (March) for Local and Foreign Tourists to experience the Natural Beauty while traveling by Train.
