Private sector granted approval to import 51,000MT chemical fertilizer

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Fertilizer Secretariat says the private sector has been granted the approval to import around 51,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizer.

Director of the National Fertilizer Secretariat, Chandana Lokuhewa stated that these permits have been issued from time to time since the 30th of November, to import 38,800 metric tons of direct fertilizer as well as 5800 metric tons of Urea.

Meanwhile, more than 80 local organic fertilizer manufacturers have been registered for the forthcoming Yala season, he added.
