COLOMBO (News 1st): There will be NO scheduled power cuts on Sunday (Feb. 20), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said.
Since today (20) is a holiday, the demand for electricity is expected to be below, Janaka Ratnayake, the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission told News 1st.
The authorities were able to manage on Saturday (Feb. 19), with power shedding of close to 15-20 minutes, given that the demand for electricity is low during the weekends, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, according to the PUCSL Chairman, there has been no response from the people and institutions to the request to reduce the use of electricity.
There is no reduction in the demand for the supply of electricity, despite numerous requests made by the PUCSL, he noted.
