COLOMBO (News 1st); The six Indian fishermen who were taken into custody by the Sri Lankan Navy in the seas off Jaffna were remanded till the 4th of March.
They were remanded after being produced before the Kayts Magistrate’s Court on Saturday (19).
The court ordered the vessel to be seized by the Myliddy harbor.
The Navy arrested six Indian fishermen who had entered Sri Lankan waters and were engaged in poaching on Saturday (19) morning.
However, the Consular office of the Indian Embassy took steps to provide material and legal assistance to the detained Indian fishermen and facilitated phone calls to their families in India as well.
