CEB, LECO & PUCSL working together to ensure NO cuts

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), and Lanka Electricity Company (Private) Limited (LECO) have appointed a joint team to look into the implementation of the conditions imposed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity without scheduled power cuts daily. The CEB is expected to ensure that the new methodology issued by the PUCSL to manage the power generation, is implemented correctly, Janaka Ratnayake, the Chairman of the PUCSL, told News 1st on Wednesday (Feb. 16). The Public Utilities Commission on Tuesday (15), announced that there will be no scheduled power cuts in the future, and outlined a plan that should be implemented to reduce electricity consumption. Accordingly, the electricity being generated by Hydropower Stations will be reduced by 50% from today (16), while large-scale consumers have been instructed to purchase standby generators, the PUCSL noted.
