Ratwatte Prison Saga : Supreme Court issues order on Police Chief

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka on Tuesday (15) ordered the Inspector General of Police to submit an investigation progress report on the incident where Former State Minister Prison Reforms Lohan Ratwatte visited the Anuradhapura Prison, ordered two inmates held under the PTA to kneel and threatened them at gun-point.

The order was made when the Fundamental Rights application by eight inmates was called up in the presence of Supreme Court Justices S. Thurairajah, Achala Wengappulli and Arjuna Obeysekera.

Earlier, the Inspector General of Police was directed to investigate the issue with the advice of the Attorney General.

The IGP was ordered to submit a report on the investigations carried out on the previous order, on the 9th of August 2022.
