Rapid onset, infection & healing a quality of OMICRON

COLOMBO (News 1st); Rapid onset, rapid infection and rapid healing are special qualities of the OMICRON variant, says the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr G. Wijesuriya.

Accordingly, he stated that if an employee has recovered from the OMICRON infection, they will have the opportunity to return to work within a week.

However, he mentioned that the disease could be exacerbated in people with weakened immune systems, if they are infected with the OMICRON variant.

Dr. G. Wijesuriya also added that most of the COVID-19 patients who have died in recent days have not sought medical advice.
