COLOMBO (News 1st); The Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to study and implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission to Investigate incidents of Political Victimization is scheduled to begin hearing of evidence from the end of this month.
A spokesperson said that the hearing will be presided over by Supreme Court Justices Priyantha Jayawardena, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Shashi Mahendran of the Court of Appeal.
Accordingly, attention will be drawn to the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission appointed by retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne to investigate incidents of political victimization that took place from the 8th of January, 2015 to the 16th of November, 2019.
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to look into political victimization has examined 1971 complaints and its final report consists of three volumes and 2,043 pages.
