COLOMBO (News 1st); Members of Opposition Parties have issued a collective response to the current economic crisis, citing several reasons, and have demanded for immediate measures to be taken to overcome the challenge.
In the light of several revelations, Opposition party MPs have called for a multi-step process to be initiated towards an orderly negotiated postponement and restructure of repayment of sovereign debt.
Accordingly, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, MP Rauff Hakeem, MP Tissa Vitharana, MP M.A. Sumanthiran, MP Kabir Hashim, MP Harsha de Silva, MP Eran Wickramaratne, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam, MP Mano Ganesan, MP Rishad Bathiudeen, MP Karu Jayasuriya and MP R. Sampanthan have signed the document.
Sri Lanka can then correct its policies towards a path of sustainable economic growth and debt management, while also ensuring access to essential goods and needs for the Sri Lankan economy and its people.
